When Robots start to look like Humans

Turing came up with the Turing test in 1950.

The test is simple.

A human talks with a computer program.

If the computer program can make the human believe that they are talking with a human, the program/AI passed the Turing test.

We can say the recent LLM models like GPT 5 and Opus speak really similar to humans.

And given the progress it’s fair to say they resemble humans more and more.

Now, what about physical robots?

Physical robots are getting better and better.

Tesla is working on developing the Optimus humanoid robots.

China recently hosted an athletic competition for robots which gained international attention.

Given all this, it seems like we are on a path where technology wise we can develop robots that look like and act like humans.

Would there be robots that look like humans walking down the streets in near future?

Would it become hard for us to tell whether we are interacting with a human or robot?

Would we start assuming every human like creature is conscious even though it might be a robot?

Or even worse, might people interact with other humans and think they are not conscious?

How do we solve for this?

Will we have laws that prevent making robots that look like a human?

Or will it not even matter whether they look like humans as long as they act like one?
